You might notice that I talk A LOT about building a business mindset. This is because I believe that this is the area that therapists struggle with the MOST.
- I don’t need to teach you how to do your job – you already know how to do it!
- I don’t need to tell you how to be creative – Therapists are inherently creative!
- I don’t need to tell you how to do the technical stuff like filling out a business license form (although I do teach some of that in my course!).
What I do find that I need to help therapists with is a business mindset.
Does this sound like you?
“I want to have a practice but I don’t know how to run a business!”
“I am not a business person!”
“I don’t think I could run a business. I am just not that type of person!”
Then we need to work on building your business mindset. You CAN be a business person. In fact, most small business owners don’t have experience with business until they lean into it.
Building a business mindset means integrating the idea that you are your own boss.
Why is this challenging?
Throughout our lives we are taught how to be employees and are made to feel insecure about being anything else. School, first jobs, etc show us that our measure of success is based on how ANOTHER PERSON measures us.
The first step to building a business mindset is learning how to get comfortable with the idea that you will be responsible for calling all of the shots. You will be your own measuring stick, you will be paying yourself, you will be deciding what you need to do day to day.
You have to create the check boxes.
Being a boss means…
Trusting your intuition
Making your own decisions
Finding your own solutions
You can do these things and I want to show you how. Every 6 months, I offer the MBA for Therapists Masterclass where I show you how to develop a business mindset so you can create a thriving practice. Want to sign up for the priority waitlist? Click here.
